Walk Worthy

“We pray for you always, that our God will count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power.” 2 Thessalonians 1:11
Paul continually exhorted the early Christians to walk worthy of their calling. In Alone With God, John MacArthur states, “If we claim to belong to Christ, we need to live in such a way that honors Him….To be counted worthy of our calling should be the prayer of every believer.”
Our prayer, as we start out a new week, should be that God will count us worthy of His calling. And we only need to flip through the pages of Paul’s writings to understand what that should mean in our life.
“Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance to one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:1-3
“So that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.” Colossians 1:10-12
“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” Ephesians 5:1-2
We have the great privilege and responsibility to bear the name of Christ in a worthy manner this week. That is my prayer for each of us.
“If you truly belong to Christ, you ought to walk as He walked.” 1 John 2:6
