God our Father

Day 25 – God our Father

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Matthew 6:26-27

If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! Matthew 7:11

God is our heavenly Father, the giver of good gifts. His provision is perfect.

I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired men.' So he got up and went to his father.  "But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. Luke 15:19-20

The story of the prodigal is a picture of our heavenly Father’s endless love. He is our Father who runs to welcome us back into His arms. Find comfort today in the knowledge that your Father is always watching over you.

The Giver of Light

Day 24 – The Giver of Light

God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:5b

Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD. 7You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound. I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.  Psalm 4:6-8

The LORD is my light and my salvation. Who is there to fear? The LORD is my life's fortress. Who is there to be afraid of? Psalm 27:1

"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. Isaiah 60:1

And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. Revelation 22:5

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

As you light the season, remember that God is the Light Giver. Let His light shine in your hearts this season.

God our Redeemer

Day 23 – Our Redeemer

“I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you." Isaiah 44:22

A redeemer is one who sets free by paying a ransom. God has set us free from the penalty of our sin by the gift of His Son, the spotless lamb.

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14

They remembered that God was their Rock, that God Most High was their Redeemer. Psalm 78:35

This is what the LORD says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go. Isaiah 48:14

I think of my blessed Redeemer,
I think of Him all the day long:
I sing, for I cannot be silent;
His love is the theme of my song.
Fanny Crosby

God is Holy

Day 22 – God is Holy

To be holy means to be separate from evil.

The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works. Psalm 145:17

There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God. 1 Samuel 2:2

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:5

He calls us to be holy as He is holy.

But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy." 1 Peter 1:15-16

O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvelous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory. Psalm 98:1

The holiness of God is directly related to His righteousness. He alone is worthy of true worship and adoration.

All-knowing God

Day 21 – God is omniscient, all-knowing. His infinite knowledge qualifies Him as sovereign ruler and judge over all things. Nothing takes God by surprise.

This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence 20whenever our hearts condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.  1 John 3:19-20

But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. Psalm 33:11

"Nothing ever surprises Him. From the moment we're conceived to the moment we die, we remain safely within the frame of His watchful gaze and His sovereign plan for us." Charles Swindoll

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Hebrews 4:13
